Who would you be without the fear of failing?
We all know the fear of failing and the stories we tell ourselves about it. They often start out as an engaging thriller and ends in a hair-raising horror scene. We are also very familiar with the consequences of letting our fear hold us back from trying something new, being honest and standing up for ourselves. We say yes when we mean no and no when we desperately want to say yes. And afterwards we complain about people not listening to us or respecting us.
It’s a common misconception that fear is something we have to overcome. The feeling of fear, like other uncomfortable feelings such as anger and grief, is a resource you can consciously tap into to find inner strength, clarity and new ways of responding that you didn’t know were possible.
In this talk, I share some of my own experience dealing with the fear of failing (which didn’t turn out well but in hindsight have great entertainment value). You also learn to use simple, but effective tools to use the fear of failing as a resource instead of an excuse for holding yourself back.
I also offer this talk as a one-day workshop.
